BAEO Action Fund Statement on the BESE Run-Off Election in District 4

NEW ORLEANS - Nov. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Stacy Martin, Louisiana state director for the Black Alliance for Educational Options Action Fund (BAEO Action Fund) released the following statements on the election of Tony Davis in District 4 of the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education:

“Tonight, voters chose to send a strong parental choice advocate to Baton Rouge to represent the voices of Black parents and their children in the Louisiana education policy debate.  With our election victories in District 4 tonight for Tony Davis, and in Districts 2 and 8 for Kira Orange Jones and Jada Lewis on October 24th, voters sent a strong bipartisan message to work across the aisle and support high-quality educational options that serve the needs of all students, especially those from low-income and working-class Black families. We stand ready to assist and we look forward to working with Tony Davis in the near future.

“This is also a persuasive victory for Louisianans as we finally have a full stack of well-rounded advocates who support transformational education reform and parental choice across the state. Finally, we are proud of the fact that dozens of volunteers, many of them young, engaged with us during the election season as we were out in the community educating voters about our candidates."
