TORRANCE, Calif. - Nov. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- November 20, 2015 – Torrance, CA – The L.A. Wolves FC (20-0-1) are set to play one of their toughest opponents to date after defeating Del Rey FC 3-1 in their previous U.S Open Cup Qualifying round. With one more win, the Wolves would reserve their spot into the Third Round of Qualifying for the U.S. Open Cup scheduled set for April, 2016. In their way stands a Cal FC team that two years ago beat a strong MLS side in the Portland Timbers. That was only the second time in US Soccer history that an amateur team has beaten an MLS side without having to go to penalties. The team’s unprecedented run came to an end however as they lost to eventual finalists and fellow MLS side, the Seattle Sounders.

This U.S Open Cup Qualifier will be a tough test for the Wolves, one though that they will undoubtedly look forward to the challenge. Coming off of a very strong season finishing with a UPSL record of 20-0-1, the Wolves will look to get through this match and find out their next U.S. Open Cup opponent come April 2016. It will surely be a battle come Saturday, as both teams will be out to prove that they can compete with the giants of the MLS. The L.A. Wolves FC, a Torrance based club, will be looking to protect their turf and take advantage of having home field with the ball set to kick off Saturday night, 7:30 PM at the Toyota Sports Complex.

L.A. Wolves President Yan Skwara who has played at the highest levels, knows what is at stake for his team. Skwara had this to say about his team’s upcoming match. “We have worked hard the past year to get into to a game like this, so we’re excited to be playing a second round U.S. Open Cup Qualifying match. We know that it’s not going to be a walk in the park as Cal FC has proven themselves as a tough opponent and has a strong and competitive squad as we scouted their last U.S Open Cup match. They have a team that can win and it’s going to be our job to break that ability. We will definitely have our work cut out for us, but one thing is for certain we will be ready to play and will come at them full throttle for 90 minutes. Our squad has had some very good games and training sessions in the past month to prepare us for this match, so we will be ready to go. It’s all about our squad gelling as a unit and walking off the field with a win, nothing less.”
