CHICAGO - Nov. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- (Chicago, McCook, Mokena, Ill.)---Indulging one more piece of grandma's pumpkin pie, having an extra helping of Aunt Sally's stuffing, and eating a plate of the neighbor's famous holiday cookies, and it's no wonder holiday weight gain seems inevitable.

This season, rather than gaining weight between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the community is invited to take advantage of a program to lose weight and get healthier this holiday season.

Fit Code (Beverly, McCook, Mokena) is holding a 21-day Holiday Detox Challenge. The challenge will take place from November 30- December 21. Members and non-members are invited to join.

"Make this a holiday season that is defined by something other than the goodies you can indulge in," said Shelton Mastey, owner of Fit Code. "With no real reason to stick to clean eating, you'll be much more likely to convince yourself a little bit here, and a little cookie there, won't hurt."

For those interested in the Holiday Detox Challenge, an informational success workshop will be held on Monday, November 23 at 6 p.m. at Fit Code's Beverly location, 10418 S. Western Ave. For those who can't attend, a video of the workshop will be available on Fit Code's Web site at www.fitcoderesults.com.

"This program eliminates all the guesswork and participants learn the right way to detox," said Matsey. "Results vary, but the average person will lose seven to 15 lbs."

Those who sign up for the challenge will weigh in at Beverly on November 28. The challenge will start on November 30 and run through December 21, with weight outs.

Participants will get an easy-to-follow, step-by-step plan, complete with recipes and grocery lists. An online support group as well as daily accountability messages will be available throughout the challenge. Participants also will earn how to transition to a long-term plan when the detox is complete.

"There are many toxins that enter our body through the food we eat, the water we drink, and the things we allow to touch our skin," said Matsey. "Toxic overload can disrupt the body's ability to fight of illness. Reducing toxic overload and inflammation in the body can restore healthy function."

"It's not the food that makes the holidays; it's the memories you make," said Matsey.
