In the first tale of the Gumwood series, Percy Platypus, Melrick Brush Turkey, and Cecil Possum are falsely accused of the dastardly thefts. Instead, it’s the foxes that had slyly ambushed an unsuspecting Daris Bunny and Cora Goose. When Scruffy the Siamese Cat attempts to aid the foxes and uses Melrick Brush Turkey as bait, both end up in a trap set by Festus Fox, king of foxes.

Police dogs conduct a wild goose chase to rescue the goose and the rest of their friends. Turns out the animals were trapped to be dinner at the grand foxes’ yearly feast. Will the kidnapped critters be saved in time, or will they be gobbled up at the foxy feast? Another mystery remains to be solved for the next book in the series.
