Benefit Concert To Rename The Scott Joplin Elementary School Gym After Tyshawn Lee

CHICAGO - Nov. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- It seems the community has come together to honor the life of the recently slain 9 year old Tyshawn Lee, a parent and the principal from the school he attended, have come up with a compassionate way to pay tribute to the life of a boy they will always remember. DJ C Boogie, Principal Alene Mason, Alderman David Moore, Cease Fire, community activist Quovadis Green, Chicago Police Officer Wesley Jackson and the Chicago Peace Organization have all come together to produce the Scott Joplin Elementary School Benefit Concert. Proceeds will be used to remodel the Scott Joplin school gym and rename it in Tyshawn Lee's honor. Tyshawn an avid basketball player, who was said to never be seen without his basketball, will now have a jersey retired and hung from the gym room ceiling.

The event will be held in the schools neighborhood at AFC 7859 S. Ashland,  a venue donated by the non for profit organization Target Area. Held Saturday November 21st, 2015, doors will open at 1pm and the show will begin promptly at 2:00pm. The event will be hosted by Chicago's Favorite Nerd Ydotgdot and Chris the infamous actor from the television show the Reawakening. The lineup will include Domani Harris, the son of rap mogul TI, who stars on the hit reality TV show TI & Tiny Family Hustle, and  who has recenlty  dropped his latest single "Finer Things". Music will be provided by Domani's DJ, 14 year old Atlanta sensation DJ Priest. The event will also star Chicago rappers Matti Baybee and Big Sexy. Principal Mason, who was a teacher when Tyshawn Lee's parent's attended Scott Joplin, hopes that upon it's completion the new gym room will host after school, spring break and summer school programs through out the year and become a safe haven for students for many years to come.
