SEATTLE - Nov. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- SEATTLE, WA, November 17, 2015  – Enlearn, a not-for-profit innovator in Adaptive Learning Technology, is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $3 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This second round of funding through the Gates Foundation’s College Ready program is a positive response to results of initial classroom trials. The grant will significantly accelerate the further development and delivery of Enlearn’s adaptive platform for digital courseware, assessments, and games, contributing to more personalized teaching and learning experiences in K-12 education.

Enlearn’s Chief Scientist and Founder, Zoran Popovic, explains, "We now have the ability to finally disrupt the one-size-fits-all model of content and learning, and replace it with a truly personalized learning experience for each student, classroom, and teacher." Popovic, who is also Director of the Center for Game Science (CGS) at the University of Washington, adds, "If we want to help an entire generation of young people learn in the 21st century, we need to make school work for the kids who are being failed by the current model. The Enlearn Platform will help solve this – to create specialized learning pathways for each learner, group, and classroom."

The Enlearn Platform, which harnesses the power of Generative Adaptation through which existing courseware and curricula are encoded to become virtually infinite, is based on six years of cutting-edge research at CGS.  A stream of new content is generated to best meet the learning needs of each individual student in every learning moment, motivating students, improving engagement, and providing real-time formative assessment for teachers to maximize the impact of their time with students.

“It’s not enough to have students working in isolation on a computer,” notes John Mullin, Enlearn CEO.  “We’re making the entire classroom experience adaptive, which includes the curriculum but also includes recommendations for adapting the lesson plan and instructional strategies in real time based on student learning and engagement. If you want to help struggling students succeed, then adaptivity needs to be designed to enhance teaching, not bypass it."  Visit us at http://www.enlearn.org to learn more.
