RE:          For more than a decade, Gerry Cooney has mentored teens at the Kilbarchan Campus, a YCS therapeutic home for 35 teens, by teaching them about boxing skills and life.

“We talk about instilling the belief in their ability, and that if you can learn to box, you can do anything,” said Cooney.

Recently, the Kilbarchan Campus, ran out of space for the program, and Cooney searched for a new place. The Brawl House in Mountainside, NJ, offered to donate their space for the kids on Sundays. After their workout, Gerry began taking the boys to Nick’s Pizza for lunch.

"Gerry has brought the kids here to Nick's, and they've really been appreciative of coming here, having some pizza, and simply having some fun for a little while," said Paul Watterson, owner of Nick's Pizza. "We asked Gerry if there was anything else we could do and we came up with the idea of hosting a basketball tournament to support the YCS Kilbarchan home."
