EASTON, Md. - Nov. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Troy Wheatley is a builder and a remodeler. On the job, the 50-year-old Easton Shore native knows a structure from the foundation to the top.

Perhaps of even greater significance, Wheatley is a master at building relationships.

These qualities made him a perfect fit in his new role as Maintenance Supervisor at Candle Light Cove, a senior living community in Easton.

“My background is as a builder and remodeler for 30 years,” said Wheatley, who has experience as a carpenter, electrician, plumber and basic HVAC. “I understand how things work, what makes them last, and what makes them proper or improper.”

“I grew up looking up to my grandfather, who was a builder,” he added. “Working in this environment at Candle Light Cove, where you’re helping people improve their quality of life, is very rewarding. The residents become your second family.”

Wheatley joined the Candle Light Cove team this summer after previously operating Wheatley Homes and Improvements for 15 years. “I worked more than 2,000 jobs in that time,” he said.

His experience and personality have made Wheatley a popular person at Candle Light Cove.

“Troy brings a level of expertise to everything he does at Candle Light Cove,” said Executive Director Cissy Stoner. “His work and work ethic are impeccable. Plus, the residents and our team really enjoy talking to him. He makes time to listen.”

Candle Light Cove provides assisted living and Alzheimer’s care. Like the rest of the Candle Light Cove team, Wheatley makes a point to get to know and respect the residents he serves.

“When I come into their residence and rooms, I respect their belongings and their space,” Wheatley said. “I try to be quick and clean. I explain what I’m doing and give them a little education so they understand exactly why we’re doing what we do.

“You’re a role model to them,” he said. “There is a level of respect. You keep it on a positive note. You put your heart into it and let the residents know they are respected and we care about the things we are doing.”
