Otherworldly songwriter and producer BABY BLOOD releases her debut single ‘Figurine’, out 30th November on Big OilRecording Company (ticktock, Less Win).  BABY BLOOD is the alter ego of Denmark’s LUCY LOVE who’s previously been supported by BBC Radio 1, MTV, Rinse FM, FACT, received over a million plays on YouTube and performed worldwide.

Preferring to stay disguised BABY BLOOD performs as a masked super-heroine that keeps vanity and ego at a distance, visually taking motivation from the luchadores of the high flying Mexican wrestling scene she translates their audacity in the ring into the imagery of her music.  By doing this the listener is encouraged to drown themselves in the audio, not focus on a manufactured false deity.  She explains, “BABY BLOOD toys with identity - the masculine and feminine meet in a sonic cosmos with visual cues that traverse time, place and cultures: The core of this place is art, not the personality behind the mask.”

Fusing the reference-heavy, trippy RnB of SZA and Doja Cat with Japanese samurai culture ‘Figurine’ comes from a meditative state, layers of ethereal sounds with a propensity for light, articulated whispers over contorted beats.  “Time is spent and I’m just your figurine / Oh I oh I oh I’ve been right here forever” is repeated and reciprocated by a multitude of voices creating a gorgeous, gaseous specter within the atmosphere of the music.  Celestial sounds from the outer limits draw you in by the simplicity of the production intertwined with a seductive vocal and samurai undertones.

BABY BLOOD is an ambitious new venture that will push the way you hear, feel and look at the art form; to a new sphere outside of any constraint or ideology you have been fed in the past.  With an EP scheduled for release in Spring 2016 ‘Figurine’ is a taste of the mind blowing, the off-kilter and the radiant sublime.
