Your New Thanksgiving Morning Tradition: USMD Arlington Turkey Trot

ARLINGTON, Texas - Nov. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- On Thanksgiving morning, Americans from all over the country will lace up their running shoes and participate in a 'turkey trot'. If you've never been to one of these early Thanksgiving morning races, it's quite a sight to behold. People from all walks of life, all ages, and all abilities will join together on a brisk Thursday morning in November to go for a run or walk before enjoying the much-anticipated Thanksgiving feast. Some groups dress up with silly turkey hats, some people don full pilgrim costumes; but, one of the best sights to see are the families that gather - some from thousands of miles away - to celebrate this great day of thanks.

Usually, Thanksgiving Day races benefit a charity. You are not just running to burn off that extra helping of stuffing or slice of pecan pie, but you are joining together with your community to raise money for a great cause. In a sense, turkey trots truly celebrate what Thanksgiving is all about - appreciating and spending time with loved ones, being thankful for good health, and donating money to help others in the community.

This Thanksgiving, DFW locals have the opportunity to participate in one of the best turkey trots in the country - 2015 6th Annual USMD Arlington Turkey Trot, benefiting The Shoe Bank. The race starts and finishes outside the home of the Texas Rangers, Globe Life Park. You can register online at: http://arlingtonturkeytrot.org/ or from 6am-start time on race day (November 26, 2015). The 1mile run begins at 8:00am and the 5K run/walk begins at 8:30am.
