Waukesha Choral Union Presents "Songs of the Season"

 
WAUKESHA, Wis. - Nov. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- In a time-honored tradition of presenting the very best in holiday fare, the Waukesha Choral Union will present “Songs of the Season” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha and at 7:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 11 at St. Catherine of Alexandra Catholic Church, W359 N 8512 Brown St., Oconomowoc.

    This eclectic performance will include Gustav Holst’s “Christmas Choral Fantasy,” Jan Pieters Sweelinck’s “Hodie Christus natus est.,” English madrigals, traditional melodies and hymns. The chorus also invites its audience to join in its annual sing-a-long segment.

  Waukesha Choral Union has been musically active in the community for over 60 years. Originally a combination of the Carroll College student chorus and community singers named Waukesha Choral Society in 1949, the group became the Town and Gown in 1961 and the Waukesha Choral Union in 1974, taking its present form as an auditioned choir in 1978.This year, WCU welcomes Michael Chapel as its Artistic Director.
