Follow on Google News | New Stamp Sets from Imetrum For Marking of Specimens for Use with Video Extensometers & DIC SystemsRoutine measurements with non-contact video measurement systems is now easier thanks to new stamp sets from Imetrum
By: Imetrum Ltd The main advantages of using Imetrum’s Stamp Sets are the reliable and repeatable results. Suitable for almost all solid mechanics applications from routine material testing to complex research applications, the Stamps simplify the experimental set-up, saving both time and money. The new Stamp Sets provide a quick and efficient way of creating the high-contrast random speckle patterns normally recommended for image based measurement systems, on a wide variety of materials including metals, plastics and composites. Sample sizes ranging from 12.5mm to 1m, flat or round, can be marked in seconds using a technique that dries quickly with no mess or fumes. Each set contains seven stamps, with speckle sizes from 0.3 mm to 3.5mm, along with black and white ink pads and a stamp selection guide. Imetrum is also aware that many users need to take measurements at high temperatures, so a separate ink set is available for measurements up to 500ºC/930ºF. Speaking about the launch of these new Stamp Sets, Paul Waterfall, Product Manager comments: “It is often the simplest of ideas that results in the biggest improvements. We work closely with our customers and marking of specimens was often brought up as a barrier to the day to day use of non-contact video systems rather than strain gauges or extensometers. Now marking is quick, easy and repeatable, this technology has now become accessible for a wider range of testing scenarios.” - ends - Note for editors Imetrum’s product now has over 300 users worldwide and is a versatile, non-contact video based system that allows the user to test a variety of important parameters (strain, rotation, displacement etc.) in real time, in a single test. As the Imetrum system is video based, a record of the test can be saved so engineers can either post process the test or complete further analysis without the need for repeating the test, saving both time and money.
