PHILADELPHIA - Nov. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic (K4-MA), the industry leader and cornerstone of the Keiretsu Forum angel investment network, is proud to announce the success of its third annual Angel Capital Expo (ACE). The event that took place on October 28 at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, resulted in members making both $100,000 and $50,000 investments in a number of innovative companies.

The winner of the coveted $100,000 investment at this year's Expo was Tassl, an application for smartphones. The team behind Tassl was awarded a $100,000 investment by K4-MA members who invested into a single purpose limited liability company. The app itself, which is available for both the Apple iOS and Android mobile platforms, is a college-centric social network that gives graduates a way to stay in contact with the activities at their schools in a much more intimate way than a larger network like Facebook can allow.

Tassl allows users to search for alumni in the same area in which they live to further a business relationship, check the schedules and scores for their favorite university teams and more. Tassl has only existed for a few years but has already partnered with some of the largest universities in the country including The Ohio State University, the University of Nebraska and the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Another winner at the Angel Capital Expo was the Girls Auto Clinic (GAC), a female-empowerment business owned and operated by engineer and technician Patrice Banks. Girls Auto Clinic was the recipient of a $50,000 investment – $25,000 of which was an investment from the founders of K4-MA and $25,000 of which were services in kind from Keiretsu Forum sponsors Drucker & Scaccetti and BakerHostetler. Girls Auto Clinic is an organization dedicated to changing the perception of women in the automotive industry through both education and niche marketing. Through Banks’ entrepreneurial efforts, Girls Auto Clinic has been able to support the role of women in the automotive environment through trust, education and ultimately inclusion by changing the way men look at their female counterparts both for the better and for all time.

The Mid-Atlantic Region presents approximately five deals a month, 60 a year, to its members and accredited investor guests.  Slightly more than 20 percent get funded, which is significantly higher than the industry average.  Approximately 36 funding applications are submitted each month to the K4-MA DealRoom website, www.K4-DealRoom.com and vetted by industry specialists. About 10 are then vetted by members at monthly screening meetings where they participate in a highly structured presentation-and-feedback-learning session.  Three to four of the screened companies are typically invited to present at subsequent monthly Forum meetings.  Entrepreneurs invited to move forward to the Forum meetings must participate in mandatory professional coaching sessions to optimize the delivery of their presentations and also agree to participate in the road show to all four cities in the region, with exposure to 100+ investors.  Subsequently, information about their companies is posted on the organization’s online global deal room for reference by all 1500+ members.  For global information visit: www.KeiretsuForum.com.
