The 6th Annual Hollywood Music in Media Awards Honors Music in Film, TV, & Video Games

Nov. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- (Hollywood, CA) – November 9, 2015– The Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) celebrates music in film, TV, videogames, commercials and trailers. The HMMA nominations have historically been representative of the nominees of film award shows announced months later.  Last year’s Golden Globe nominees for score matched the HMMA’ selections and the Best Score winner Antonio Sanzhez for Birdman won the Critic’s Choice Award and recently the World Soundtrack Award for Best Score.  Nominees of this year’s HMMA represent talent from around the world including Spain, Argentina, France, Norway and Australia.  The 2015 HMMA event will be held at The Fonda Theater 6126 Hollywood Blvd on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. This year will include performances from Pitch Perfect 2, Diane Warren’s and Lady Gaga’s song “Til it Happens To you,” YouTube sensation, Tiffany Aldon and more.   Attendees confirmed and expected include composers and songwriters from Beasts of No Nation, Ant Man, Mad Max, Minions, The Hunting Ground, Home, Peanuts, Empire, Penny Dreadful, House of Cards, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Destiny, Inside Amy Schumer and more.

The HMMA includes presentations, performances and a special achievement award and recognizes musical excellence in visual media.  Past honorees include Smokey Robinson, Glen Campbell, Dave Mason, Christopher Young and John Debney.  Last year’s HMMA included performances by Orange is the New Black composers Gwendolyn [Sanford] and the Good Time Gang, Birdman composer Antonio Sanchez, and The New Radicals founding members Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisboise performing on stage for the first time in 15 years; they performed their song Lost Stars from the film Begin Again which later received an Oscar nomination.  Presenters have included Verdine White of Earth, Wind and Fire, Gilby Clarke of Guns N’ Roses, award-winning songwriter Stephen Bishop, actor Eric Roberts, Adam Gaynor of Matchbox 20 and director Andy Fickman.

The HMMA is the only award that specifically recognizes music in all visual media. The HMMA nominations are selected by an advisory board and selection committee which includes journalists, music executives, songwriters and composers.  The winners are determined by music-media industry professionals comprised of select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), The Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch, NARAS, performing rights organizations, film music journalists, and music executives.
