PLYMOUTH, Mass. - Nov. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Heidrea for Heroes (www.heidrea4heroes.org), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources and support to military men and women facing challenges after transitioning back to civilian life, has facilitated a book reading program in honor of Veterans Day at several regional elementary schools.

In an effort to help children understand that veterans walk among us every day, Heidrea for Heroes coordinated the program that brings a veteran from the community into the classroom to read “Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhood” by Valerie Pfundstein.  The book introduces children to the real-life “superheroes” in our society – our military veterans – and clearly depicts, in a child-appropriate learning level, who veterans are and what they have done to serve and assist our country.

The program was held over the first two weeks of November in class rooms at The program was held over the first two weeks of November in class rooms at Sacred Heart School in Kingston; Grace Farrar Cole Elementary and William Gould Vinal Elementary in Norwell; Kingston Elementary; Nathaniel Morton Elementary in Plymouth; and Milford Elementary.  A copy of the book will remain in the classrooms for future enjoyment.

“Our hope is to provide young students with an opportunity to learn from and interact with a veteran,” said Jesse Brown, co-founder of Heidrea for Heroes.

About Heidrea for Heroes, Inc.

Heidrea for Heroes was founded by Marine Corps veterans and small business owners/partners Jesse Brown and Mathew Mastroianni, who are partners also in a telecommunications firm. Both, as veterans, understand the issues of transition from military to civilian life – and they have formed this non-profit organization to provide vital support services to veterans. With offices in Plymouth’s Cordage Park, they seek volunteers and investors to help them realize their dream – which includes the establishment of a Workforce Training Program that will provide veterans with hands-on training to work in the trades. Heidrea for Heroes provides adaptive home and vehicle modifications, wheelchair ramps, mobility equipment, and individualized veteran/family support that aim to inspire and motivate veterans and families to move forward through transitions. Heidrea for Heroes has an application process for veterans in need of assistance and welcomes Massachusetts veterans of any age to submit. Applications and more information about the organization can be found online at www.heidrea4heroes.org, or you can call 774-773-3951.  Family/friends of veterans can also inquire or apply on their behalf. Heidrea for Heroes maintains offices at 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 300, Plymouth, MA 02360.
