Follow on Google News | Brass Valley: The Rise and Fall of an American Industry with Author Emery RothOver the course of four years, Roth photographed management and workers of the last large-scale brass mills of old Brass Valley in Connecticut. This discussion will be at the Oliver Wolcott Library on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 2:00- 3:00 p.m.
Roth will present a selection of his images of Brass Valley (including some outtakes) while he shares experiences and discoveries made while writing his book, and he will talk about what it means to try to find Brass Valley, a place in time that has not quite vanished. Emery Roth is a writer, photographer, & wanderer; a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University with degrees in architecture & literature. He has been taking photographs since childhood. Today he uses only natural light and then develops the images full potential on his computer. He seeks to capture the many moods of the land and hopes his work speaks with the immediacy of music. Light refreshments will be served. The author will provide books for signing and for purchase. All Oliver Wolcott Library events are free and open to the public. Space is limited. Registration is required and can be done by calling 860-567-8030 or logging onto www.owlibrary.org and clicking on Programs/Adult Programs. End
