We have worked over the last seven years to end the sigma of addiction. We need to let people know we can enter into recovery to live purposeful lives and be of maximum service to all. How we do this is very simple” Addiction Awareness & Prevention through Rock-N-Roll”. Thank you to everyone for your years of support. The RIR Team looks forward to seeing everyone at the festival.

Clearbrook Treatment Centers - From the first conversation our staff had with John Hollis and Lori Sullivan of Rockers in Recovery back in 2011, we immediately saw how powerful and valuable their organization was to recovery.

Often time’s music is an unused tool in someone’s fight against addiction.  At Clearbrook we utilize different musician’s lyrics and music to tell our patients a story.  There are so many songs written about addiction.  Songs that portray what it was like, what happened, and what it is like now.  Whether it’s Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s “Starting Over” or Beth Hart’s “Leave the Light On”, the words and melodies of this music can touch the person trying to recover in a very mystical way.

During a patient’s stay at Clearbrook, the RIR vision is shared and implemented in someone’s treatment plan.  We ask our patients to listen, feel, and talk about what happens to them inside when they hear music that sparks emotion.

Along with being a strong part of someone’s recovery program we emphasize the fellowship quality of music.  For years we couldn’t be productive members of society.  For many of us we were lost and almost always under the influence; no matter what we were doing.

For some, music and concerts triggered emotions and thoughts of using and drinking.  Whether it was a Grateful Dead show or a music festival, we felt that if we were going to stay clean and sober we would have to stop going to these events.  What about our love for music though?  Through recovery and meeting people with the same common goal of enjoying life and having fun we found that going to concerts and musical events were possible.

Rockers in Recovery’s annual music festival in Pembroke Pines, FL proves this.  Here are thousands of people walking hand in hand living sober, happy, and free.  We look forward to February 13th 2016 to do it again with RIR at their “Unite to Fight Addiction” event in Florida.
