By: IntegraCare “You always had that fear of not coming back,” said Cochran, 73, who used his experience as a radio and television repair man to fulfill communications duties in Vietnam in 1969. Cochran will be among 15 Newhaven Court at Lindwood veterans who will be recognized during a Veterans Day ceremony at the senior living community located at 100 Freedom Way in Greensburg. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 and include a luncheon. A Greensburg native, Cochran served in the Army from 1964 to 1973. He went to basic training at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. Cochran said he manned a switchboard and coordinated communications during the war. “Harry Cochran and all of the veterans who reside at Newhaven Court at Lindwood served our country with honor,” said Lori Grant, Executive Director of Newhaven Court at Lindwood. “It is our privilege to recognize these veterans for their sacrifice and duty. Our veterans are the reason why our country has the freedoms we enjoy every day of our lives.” During the ceremony, Newhaven Court at Lindwood team members will recognize each of the veterans by calling their respective names and providing some brief background on their service to their country. A luncheon will be served in conjunction with the event. Newhaven Court at Lindwood recognizes the service of the men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces and holds events to put the veterans in the spotlight on Memorial Day, Veterans Day and the Fourth of July. “These holiday events are special, but we appreciate all that our veterans have sacrificed for us on a daily basis,” Grant said.
