Follow on Google News | John Morning to Withdraw From Congressional RaceStatement from John Morning: “When I first thought about running for office, all I wanted to do was to make a difference. I wasn’t running for money, fame or power, actually, I was running for the opposite, to try and take those things out of politics. You see, I watched my current representative vote against his constituents time and again. I saw him as a man that had been in Washington D.C. for probably 20 years too long. A man that fully supports major corporations over taxpayers. A man that votes not as his constituents want, but how he is told to vote by the establishment. A man that has enriched himself and his family based upon his position. To me, he embodied everything that is wrong with politics. I watched him vote carefully, contacted his office multiple times, while never receiving a response, and did my research on his history. I had had enough. That is why I decided to run.” “What I have discovered over the last several months has been heartbreaking. We have a political system where the rich and powerful, on both sides of the political spectrum, select who they want to be the candidates, and then present them to us as “choices”. This is a false choice. The system is established to keep regular citizens out, while retaining the power for the professional political class. A system where the incumbents are literally paid by the taxpayers to campaign. Congress is having 15 weeks of vacation next year, including the entire month off prior to the election to campaign, all paid for by us. How do you compete against that? “ “I am a veteran that swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and spent a lifetime of 27 years defending it. It seems like most politicians work harder to find a way around the constitution then to stand by their oaths. Over all, this has been a lesson to me, and not necessarily a happy one. One thing I have learned however, is what is most important to me. You see, I learned that my life would have had to drastically change to keep up with three things, I would have to keep up with my full time job, since I am not independently wealthy, I must be a full time husband and father to my two year old son, and I must be a full-time candidate. During my campaign I have discovered, however, that I can only keep up with two out of three at any given time. Family always will come first with me, so I am announcing that I am withdrawing from the race for United States Representative in Florida’s 7th Congressional District.” “This decision did not come easily to me. We need to make a change in Washington D.C. soon, or it will be too late for all of us. Money and power is corrupting, and soon the rich and powerful will control everything and the average citizens will only be left with the crumbs. For now, I will focus on my family and find a new way to make a difference. We must all continue to find a way to work together and truly give the government back to the people. God bless Florida, and as always, God Bless America.” End
