Follow on Google News | Your Mattress Donation Frustration is OverBy: Habitat ReStore of Durham and Orange Any mattress or box spring donation must meet the following strict standards—all items must be stain-free, without rips or structural defects. Once accepted, an approved vendor will sanitize, bag and tag all bedding, in accordance to the NC General Assembly’s statutes, before it ever hits the ReStore sales floor. “We’re excited to finally offer this unique opportunity to Durham and Orange County,” said Bonnie Ashley, Habitat for Humanity ReStore Director. “With your mattress donations and purchases, you are supporting Habitat’s vision of creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live...and now a decent night’s sleep.” Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat for Humanity uses proceeds from the sales of donated items to help build affordable homes locally and around the world. In 2014, donations and purchases made at the ReStore allowed for six homes to be built for families in Durham and Orange counties.
