Nov. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- DEAD SEA, Jordan (November 3, 2015) -In celebration of Hilton Worldwide’s annual Global Month of Service, throughout October, more than 70 volunteers from King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre managed by Hilton and the pre-opening team at Hilton Dead Sea Resort & Spa in partnership with Samarah Dead Sea Resort have worked closely with the SOS Children’s Village in Amman to create an activity room where both kids and mothers can spend quality time together and a meeting room that can be used for trainings, meetings and official visits.   Community service is a tradition embedded in the company for nearly 100 years, and throughout the year Team Members dedicate their time, passion and unique brand of hospitality to create positive change in their local communities. Hilton KHBTCC’s efforts are a part of Hilton’s month-long celebration of the company’s year-round commitment to serving and enriching the communities where we live, work and travel.

Elias J. Moukarzel, General Manager of King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre managed by Hilton and Hilton Dead Sea Resort & Spa commented: “This year, our team decided to celebrate the Global Month of Service with the SOS Children’s Village and in partnership with Samarah Dead Sea Resorts. We chose to create a meeting room and an activity room after carefully assessing the needs of the village together with the village’s management. This room shall serve as a hub for both mothers and children to enjoy activities they love; from exercising and playing games to reading, watching both fun and educational programs and making crafts – our objective is not to create a room – but encourage positive vibes and healthy activities.”

Hilton KHBTCC and Samarah worked with the village throughout the month and planned several activities to provide children with a safe and happy surrounding. The team volunteered to create an activity room that serves all of the residents of the village catering to different age groups. They also beautified the way leading to the room, planting trees and painting sidewalks to create a welcoming ambience. They also created a fully equipped meeting room that will serve as a facility for the management to hold its trainings, meetings and host official visits and activities at.

Hilton and Samarah also invited the well-known Jordanian rally drivers Husam Salem and Nancy Majali to the village, where they spent a couple of hours with the kids sharing their experience in races they participated in.

Muna Hamdan, the regional director of the SOS Children’s Villages in Jordan commented: “We are proud to have such devoted partners; Hilton KHBTCC’s and Samarah’s team dedicated their time and effort and worked professionally to provide our children with a fully-equipped area to use for their activities.” She added: “They didn’t only create top-notch rooms for our village but created an amazing bond with our kids and team – we look forward to working together on future activities.”

Global Month of Service is Hilton Worldwide’s largest annual community service initiative and mobilizes hundreds of thousands of Team Members from every region to engage in numerous volunteer events and activities happening around the world. Volunteers offer their time to support a wide range of projects including conserving natural resources, mentoring and training young people, creating amenity care packages for communities in need, collecting surplus food and distributing to underserved communities and aiding local communities devastated by disaster.

Since its inaugural service celebration in 2012, Hilton volunteers have provided support to more than 6,700 projects worldwide contributing more than 300,000 hours of community service. Last year in just one week, Hilton hosted more than 3,500 projects in 86 countries, volunteering more than 150,000 hours. The company aims to complete 3,750 projects across its global footprint.

Team Members are encouraged to share their personal stories of hospitality and community service. Throughout the month, photos, videos and stories will be posted at www.hiltonworldwide.com/serve, on the Hilton Worldwide Facebook page and on the @HiltonWorldwide Twitter account.
