By: SMALLab Learning ”We are very excited to showcase at the GaETC conference what we have learned while piloting the SMALLab platform at the Northwest Georgia Regional Educational System,” said David Birchfield, CEO of SMALLab. “The teachers have been utilizing our embodied learning program for K-12 schools that engage all the senses and immerse the students into the content. At SMALLab Learning, we are demonstrating how our interactive classrooms can empower teachers and educate students in the 21st Century.” The theme for this year’s GaETC conference is “Everyone has a Superpower.” SMALLab’s embodied learning scenarios are kinesthetic, collaborative and multi-modal. They enable interactive learning that is engaging for students and have been demonstrated to significantly increase learning gains. There are more than 300 embodied learning activities in SMALLab’s diverse library and the number is rapidly growing. Additionally, educators can easily create their own learning activities with a minimum of technical expertise. The environment’ SMALLab Learning was founded in 2010 to advance embodied learning. The SMALLab environment transforms the classroom with motion-capture technology and immersive audio-visuals. SMALLab has been proved to improve student achievement by as much as 86%. The National Science Foundation, MacArthur Foundation and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have funded the core research that drives SMALLab and embodied learning.
