VENTURA, Calif. - Nov. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Despite indoor temperatures of 103 degrees and a two-hour power outage, the second annual Bingo Extravaganza sponsored by the Ventura chapter of The Charitable Foundation raised approximately $6,000 for local organizations on Oct. 10.

“The power went out about 45 minutes into our event. We had no air conditioning or electricity,” said Mark Ouchi, board chair of the real estate agent-run chapter, comprised of agents and staff from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.

“After realizing that the entire street was out due to a blown transformer, board members rushed out to purchase lanterns, and they managed to light up the room. Guests fanned themselves with paper plates. Everyone was super patient and determined to keep the festivities going in spite of the challenges. It made for a really memorable evening.”

Funds raised from the bingo games, silent auction, and raffles during the event at Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura will be disbursed to local organizations that promote health, education, community, and the environment. Organizations that will receive proceeds from the event will be announced in coming weeks, Ouchi said.

“The Second Annual Bingo Extravaganza was a tremendous success, with 75 attendees from all over Ventura County,” said Lyle Elliot, Ventura office manager. “The board of directors of The Charitable Foundation worked very hard to make it a meaningful event, and the community supported it in a big way. Local charities will benefit from the generosity of those who participated.”

In addition to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties, Bingo Extravaganza sponsors were RedBrick Pizza Café, First American Home Buyers Protection Corp., National Property Inspections, and Open Air Bicycles.
