WILMINGTON, N.C. - Nov. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Luis Granados will present the lecture "Damned Good Company - Azaña vs. Mussolini" on Sunday, November 8, 2015, 6pm at the monthly meeting of the Humanists & Freethinkers of Cape Fear. The program will be held at the Bridge Center, 127-40 S. College Road, Wilmington, North Carolina. Attendance is free and open to the public.

Luis Granados' talk will include observations, readings and discussion of his book Damned Good Company: Twenty Rebels Who Bucked the God Experts, a collection of 20 stories of people throughout history who stood up against the prevailing religion of their time and place, from Socrates through Ayaan Hirsi Ali. "Azaña vs. Mussolini" is one of these stories, about two non-believing politicians who took widely divergent paths, ending in war with one another.

The book is, says Granados, a "Profiles in Courage" for Humanists. On his website, Granados describes himself as an agnostic/deist.

"I am a suspecter, not a believer," he writes. "... I resent being told what to do by people no better than I am who claim to speak for God."

Luis Granados is Director of Humanist Press. He writes the Rules Are for Schmucks (http://thehumanist.com/voices/rules-are-for-schmucks/) column for TheHumanist.com.

Registration for this event can be made on the Humanists and Freethinkers of Cape Fear Meetup.com page at http://www.meetup.com/humanism-182/events/225427360/
