CHICAGO - Nov. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- YouCopia introduces “Happy Holiday Kitchen” -- 21 simple projects to de-clutter and organize the kitchen just in time for Thanksgiving.

A new project will be posted each day on the YouCopia blog beginning Tuesday, Nov. 3. Professional Organizer Susan Fleischman, founder of clutterfree, has created the quick and easy projects to do between now and Nov. 23 to get the kitchen ready for the holidays.

“By de-cluttering and organizing your kitchen, you’ll save time and money and reduce stress,” Fleischman says. “Holiday cooking marathons will go faster and be more enjoyable when your kitchen feels spacious and functional. Best of all, saving time in the kitchen gives you more moments to celebrate with the people you love.”

Some of the projects seemingly require people to spend money on organization solutions (boxes, bins, etc.), but being organized does not have to be an expensive endeavor. Fleischman’s tips are just suggestions. She encourages people to be creative, source unused items from other areas of the home, and seek out low-cost alternatives (dollar stores can be a treasure trove for storage items and labels).

Most importantly, the goal is to achieve and maintain an organized kitchen that works for the holiday season ... and throughout the new year.

The 21 organizing projects include:

1) Simplify Arrival and Departure: Create a designated landing strip and never again waste time or energy looking for keys, cell phone, purse or mail.

2) Reclaim Kitchen Surfaces: Don’t just move the piles … create designated homes for items when not in use.

3) Tackle Upper Cabinets: Upper kitchen cabinets tend to get cluttered for two reasons: 1) too much stuff that is never used, and 2) wasted vertical space between shelves. Tackle the stuff and the vertical space is less of an issue.

4) Lighten Up Lower Cabinets: Find all kinds of forgotten stuff.

5) Overhaul Baking Gear: De-clutter the bakeware cabinet in 15 minutes or less.

6) Organize Entertaining Essentials: For less stressful entertaining, find an accessible place for platters, serving pieces and candlesticks.

7) Reconfigure Drawers: Suffer from kitchendrawerdupeitis – too many duplicates of too many items? Purge … and then reconfigure kitchen drawers.

8) De-Clutter the Pantry: Save time and money and help the family eat healthier.

9) Consolidate Beverage Items: Organize beverage items in one place so they’re easy to find and grab.

10) Containerize Baking Supplies: Baking holiday cookies, pies and cakes? Follow these tips to maximize space and quality of dry baking ingredients.

11) Do a Spice Refresh: De-clutter spices to save money and time.

12) Make Over the Fridge Front: Before guests arrive, give the fridge front a clean look.

13) Re-Zone the Fridge: Organize the fridge so everyone can help themselves this holiday season.

14) Free Up Freezer Space: Avoid freezer clutter by creating and maintaining food-specific zones.

15) Clear out the Junk (Drawer): Create a miscellaneous ESSENTIALS drawer where it’s easy to find everything.

16) Contain Food Storage Containers: Get ready for holiday leftovers in just minutes.

17) Straighten Under Sink: De-clutter to find cleaning supplies when it’s time for company.

18) Tame the Paper Tiger: Clear out paper that’s piled on kitchen counters, stuffed in cabinets, tacked to the fridge, and shoved beneath the silverware tray.

19) Deal With Coupons: Try these strategies for organizing coupons … and save more this holiday season.

20) Reduce Recipe Clutter: Don’t waste precious time searching for the family’s holiday favorites.

21) Purge Cookbooks: Bring order to the collection so the right cookbook can be easily accessed.
