European Union #MyClimateMyfuture photo contest Highlights the impact of Climate Change in India

NEW DELHI - Oct. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Five images capturing the dramatic effects of climate change in Indiaand measuresthat are being taken to tackle the impact have won prizes in the European Union's #MyClimateMyFuture photo contest.

The photography contest was organized to provide a platform for Indian citizens to capture and 'Voice Out' their impressions about Climate Change as they see it, using the powerful medium of the lens.

Winners for the 'Climate Photo Jury Prize' are Supriya Biswas and Deepak Kumar. KirtiSarbalia and Wagish Sharma won the 'Climate Photo Voter's Choice' prize, based on the maximum number of 'likes' on Facebook. Supriya Biswas also won the 'Jury Choice-Honorary Mention' award. Winners will receive aCanon EOS 700D camera, to continue their picture journey.

The contest whichran from 17thJune to 17th September, 2015 was met with enthusiastic participation from all across India. Capturing the climate change story as it unfolds from all corners of India, the participants shared stunning photographs highlighting the ravages of climate change on the environment, and on day-to-day life.

The contest was run through Facebook and the winning images can be found on the European Union's website page:

The jury consisted of Amitabha Bhattacharya(an acephotographer with over 40 years of experience who specializes in social documentation, wildlife & nature photography); Moushumee K Jha (an accomplished photo artist whose sensitive frames capture people, culture, street life. She has authored 2 critically acclaimed photo books – ''Ananya: Her journey through life in 2010" and a coffee table book "Celebrating Assam at SurajKund"); Cesare Onestini(Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to India) and Henriette Faergemann (First Counsellor - Environment, Energy, Climate Change, Delegation of the European Union to India).
