In a move not often associated with education facilities, the UK College of Business and Computing (UKCBC) recently took to a hub of shopping activity to help raise the profile of its array of higher education courses.

Targeting shoppers at the Ilford Shopping Centre over a period of two weeks earlier this month, the UKCBC adopted a proactive approach to reaching potential students in the region. By highlighting the many courses available from the college – including Higher National Diplomas in travel and tourism, business management, information technology, and more – the opportunity for those looking to develop their academic qualifications and pursue greater employment opportunities were able to discuss in person the right courses for them.

“The idea was to get out into the public and help raise awareness of the courses that are available to everybody,” said Zaheer Jaffri, UKCBC Head of Marketing. “Higher education isn’t reserved purely for those attending university; it’s available to anybody that is driven to pursue it.”

“By engaging with shoppers at Ilford Shopping Centre, we were able to have face-to-face discussions with a diverse group of people who are very keen to pursue their studies but are not adequately supported or encouraged. Simply discussing the options available to them, and the potential goals they can achieve after successfully studying with the UKCBC, was a rewarding experience for us. The level of interest we experienced from people was fantastic too, and we look forward to hopefully seeing many familiar faces for enrolment in September.”
