LONDON - Oct. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Hemiwear says forget disposable culture, value your design tools and enjoy the lifelong companionship of a titanium mechanical pencil.

These beautifully executed tools are rugged and hardwearing yet elegant, and will become your everlasting companion in design. Perfect for engineers, designers, architects, artists and those who simply enjoy the detail and focus that only technical drawing can bring.

Made to be perfectly balanced out of solid Titanium and providing that you feed it lead when it is hungry, it will a loyal servant throughout your design career.

Hemiwear CEO Nick Hemingway says: “These mechanical pencils are built to last but they have an aesthetic quality to them too – they feel good in your hand, they feel good to write with, and to draw with. They would make the perfect gift or be a valuable addition to any set of tools.”

Hemingway, a distant relation of the writer Ernest Hemingway, came to love the blend of science and artistry as a child, when he often witnessed his grandfather, Philip Hemingway, working away at his desk, as an engineer, draughtsman and horologist. His great-grandfather, William Hemingway, was a civil engineer in Victorian times – so the family has rich streams of creativity and knowledge flowing through it for centuries.

With a Kickstarter campaign already drawing in over £5,000 within only 24 hours of launch, Hemingway hopes the volume of orders and pledges will mean he can expand his business, and with a commitment to minimal, environmentally friendly packaging, he hopes these pencils will help combat the throwaway mentality of the modern world.

He says: “The disposable culture we live in today encourages a valueless attitude to cheap material things.  It is these cheap products that really cause a lot of the world's pollution. Because of their large scale production they cost next to nothing. But it produces a disposable and valueless mindset and so many are thrown away without consideration over the cost to the environment.

“How often nowadays do you see the design life of a pencil lasting over 1 year? Of course they can last many years, but the point is, do we see a value in the pencil anymore?”

Perhaps the easiest place to find inspiration, was in his own family …  “My aim is to put down on paper what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way.” - Ernest Hemingway.
