Sponsored by the School Sisters of St. Francis, in partnership with the We Energies Foundation, the annual fiesta is an invitation to spend time together as neighbors of Milwaukee’s Layton Boulevard West. The family-friendly event begins with a 4 p.m. Mass in Spanish and English in the convent’s beautiful historic St. Joseph Chapel, with Father Rafael Rodriguez of St. Francis de Sales Seminary as the celebrant, assisted by Deacon Jorge Zuñiga of St. Roman’s Parish. Liturgical music will be provided by the Prince of Peace Parish Choir. Immediately following the Mass, the fiesta begins with delicious food available for purchase from Antigua Latin Restaurant, El Cañaveral Restaurant, and Lopez Bakery. Fiesta goers can listen and dance to the energetic salsa sounds of Madison’s Charanga Agozá, and take part in creating traditional crafts—fun for all ages! “Welcoming our neighbors to our beautiful campus through this fiesta has been a wonderful way to get acquainted. As a result of our fiesta and Mass, two groups of women now consider this campus home to their biweekly prayer gatherings,” Food will be served until 7 p.m., and the festivities end at 8 p.m. Admission to the fiesta is free.
