Annual Fiesta Welcomes All Ages in Layton Boulevard West

School Sisters of St. Francis Hosts November 14 Fiesta on St. Joseph Center Campus

Milwaukee, Wis., October 27, 2015--“If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him.” This statement by César Chávez is also the message of “Nuestra Casa Es Su Casa,” the fiesta at St. Joseph Center (27th St. and Greenfield Ave.) on Saturday, November 14. Sponsored by the School Sisters of St. Francis, in partnership with the We Energies Foundation, the annual fiesta is an invitation to spend time together as neighbors of Milwaukee’s Layton Boulevard West.

The family-friendly event begins with a 4 p.m. Mass in Spanish and English in the convent’s beautiful historic St. Joseph Chapel, with Father Rafael Rodriguez of St. Francis de Sales Seminary as the celebrant, assisted by Deacon Jorge Zuñiga of St. Roman’s Parish. Liturgical music will be provided by the Prince of Peace Parish Choir. Immediately following the Mass, the fiesta begins with delicious food available for purchase from Antigua Latin Restaurant, El Cañaveral Restaurant, and Lopez Bakery.

Fiesta goers can listen and dance to the energetic salsa sounds of Madison’s Charanga Agozá, and take part in creating traditional crafts—fun for all ages!

“Welcoming our neighbors to our beautiful campus through this fiesta has been a wonderful way to get acquainted. As a result of our fiesta and Mass, two groups of women now consider this campus home to their biweekly prayer gatherings,” said Donna O’Loughlin, coordinator of outreach events for the School Sisters.

Food will be served until 7 p.m., and the festivities end at 8 p.m. Admission to the fiesta is free. For more details, see www.sssf.org or call Rosaura Solano at 414-385-5253. The St. Joseph Center front desk can also be reached at 414-385-5302.

St. Joseph Center is located at located at 1501 South Layton Boulevard (27th St. and Greenfield Ave.), Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53215. Convenient free parking is available at 29th St. and Orchard Ave. in the St. Joseph Center lot.
