Trinity Christian Academy Fills Three Key Roles on Executive Team

DALLAS - Oct. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- Trinity Christian Academy (http://www.trinitychristian.org/podium/default.aspx?t=151924) (TCA) recently hired three executives to join its administrative staff. Dr. Ryan Berens has been appointed assistant head of middle school, Beverly Birmingham was named the assistant head of the lower school and Kirk McJunkin will fill the new role of executive athletic director for TCA.

“We are excited to have three talented executives join our administrative team,” said TCA Headmaster Dave Delph. “Dr. Berens, Ms. Birmingham and Mr. McJunkin are all knowledgeable individuals who will further position our students and school for success.”

Dr. Berens, in his role as assistant head of middle school, will contribute to creating a culture of continual improvement, translating research and best practices into effective classroom programs. He will use test data to monitor and strive for learning success for all students and implement programs and procedures for effective management of school life. Before joining TCA, Dr. Berens spent a number of years in public education where he served as a teacher, coach, instructional specialist, director of technology and assistant principal. Dr. Berens also spent time working for the Georgia Department of Education, creating the first statewide longitudinal data system available for teachers.

Birmingham, TCA’s new assistant head of the lower school, will be tasked with implementing best practices, curriculum, pedagogy and integration of faith within the classroom. Prior to joining TCA, Birmingham worked at international schools and most recently served as the elementary principal at Yongsan International School of Seoul, South Korea. Yongsan is a large international Christian school with students from around the world, known for its excellent academics.

As the new executive athletic director, McJunkin will be responsible for leading TCA’s Athletic Department and providing a vision for and continued implementation of transformational coaching at all levels. McJunkin is an experienced athlete who previously played football at the University of Texas and for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Prior to his role at TCA, McJunkin was an executive in the commercial construction arena. TCA’s athletic program includes 21 varsity-level sports (10 for boys and 11 for girls, including cheerleading and drill team), and athletes compete in the TAPPS 5A division. TCA has a long tradition of successful athletic programs and has a history of state championships in many sports. Numerous athletes in a variety of different sports have gone on to pursue athletics at the collegiate level, including many at the NCAA Division 1 level.
