MIAMI - Oct. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Yuni Navarro, Ocean Bank (http://www.oceanbank.com)’s executive vice president and head of the Human Resources Division, has been recognized by the Florida Diversity Council (http://www.floridadiversitycouncil.org) with the Florida Glass Ceiling Award.

The statewide award, recognizing influential female executives for their leadership, commitment and hard work, was presented at the Fifth Annual Women’s Conference at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. The annual statewide event for women addresses professional development, community, networking, entrepreneurship and women's health.

Ms. Navarro, who has headed human resources at Ocean Bank since 2009, has accumulated a record of professional and community accomplishments.

In March 2015, the Greater Miami Chamber named her HR Leader of the Year, citing her leadership in helping guide the bank to success through challenging years, and her ascension through the ranks from a trainee payroll clerk in 1993 with little knowledge of English. Ms. Navarro went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Human Resources Management Certification from Florida International University.

A strong believer in giving back to the community, Ms. Navarro is on the executive board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, where she previously served on the board of directors, and on the Alumni Board of her alma mater, the FIU College of Business.

For many years, Ms. Navarro has been active in the United Way, where she chaired the annual Women’s Leadership Breakfast and participated in various leadership initiatives.
