San Antonio Teacher Gets Probation For Sex With A Minor

SAN ANTONIO - Oct. 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The Daniel & Hudson criminal defense law firm represented a former Northeast Independent School District teacher, Maris Gonzalez, arrested in January 2015 on a sexual assault of a minor charge. She was sentenced on October 19 to serve five years probation, pay a fine of $2,000, serve seven weekends in jail and register as a sex offender. Gonzalez had previously worked at Madison and Churchill high schools in San Antonio, Texas.

Gonzalez, 24, accepted a plea deal that was negotiated by Attorney Brandon Hudson after she was caught straddling a 15-year-old former student inside a car. The plea agreement downgraded her punishment to five years of probation in lieu of a lengthy prison sentence, but she still must serve seven weekends in jail as part of the agreement. If this plea deal had not been negotiated, or if the District Judge chose not to allow the plea deal, she could have faced up to 20 years for what was a second-degree assault charge felony.

The defense lawyers at Daniel & Hudson have more than 40 years of combined legal experience. Whether individuals are charged with basic misdemeanors or serious felonies that can result in years of imprisonment or even the death penalty, they can turn to Daniel & Hudson for skilled legal defense.
