Who Needs L.A. To Make A Hollywood Video

SAN DIEGO - Nov. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- San Diego, CA - November 17th, 2015

Leaders In The Clubhouse are a local band leading San Diego into the world of Hollywood produced music videos.  This week they are debuting a video for their song "LawnChairs" with an impressive pedigree of film & television professionals making a glossy product all for a new, unsigned band.

The song tells the story of an impending apocalypse while the members of the band are having fun instead of literally being caught dead trying to flee town or hunker down in a basement if the end is near.  While the subject matter seems dark, the video is light-hearted and humorous.  The band and its lead musicians, Spud Davenport and Charlie Recksieck, bill themselves as writing and performing in the "Fun Rock" genre so the comical take should be no surprise.

The video ended up having a big-budget Hollywood brain trust.  The band recruited veteran tv director/producer Mike Stutz, Emmy-winning cinematographer Jay Lafayette and Oscar-nominated editor Gail Yasunaga in addition to an experienced technical crew.

Director Stutz sums up the vision of the video, "If the world was coming to an end, would the public cling to their selfish attitudes while talking heads predict doom and gloom?  Not if the public was Leaders In The Clubhouse.  I love their concept in the song that is essentially, 'Hey we're all gonna die someday, might as well go out laughing with friends instead of screaming amongst strangers."

So how does a unsigned, brand-new band with no label support make a video with a lineup that belies the band's "D.I.Y." status?  According to the band's Spud Davenport, "We didn't think we could do something as epic as LawnChairs but with talented friends, a bunch of favors, and a boatload of luck, we have more than a video.  We've produced a music movie."

Says LITC's Charlie Recksieck, "We kind of had the best of both worlds.  New technology lets anybody afford great equipment plus access to social media to promote, which levels the playing field somewhat.  But instead of a buddy with a home camera, we scored ourselves a professional crew.  The difference really shows.  Even in the era of Do-It-Yourself, sometimes you still need professionals."

Leaders In The Clubhouse despite being fresh on the scene, self-produced and self-promoted, has already scored some success with the debut album released in Summer 2015.  They've been played on 60 broadcast radio stations, garnered positive reviews across the country and have two songs featured later this year in the movie "Last Call At Murray's".

The video for "LawnChairs" is debuting at a public premiere in San Diego on November 13th followed by local broadcast premieres then will be released on Tuesday, November 17th and will be viewable at the band's website, YouTube and broadcast on music video channels.
