Follow on Google News | New York City Job Fair Aims to Educate and Empower Working WomenBy: Women Auto Know “It helps women become self-sufficient and empowers them,” said Ann Jawin, chairwoman of the Center for the Women of New York. “When a woman earns her own living, having your own check is more empowering than any speech.” In the past, families could survive and thrive with one parent’s income. Those days are long gone. Organizers aim to empower women by offering job opportunities and actionable tips that will help them provide for their families. This event is free and open to the public. Attendees will participate in a panel discussion with women who have found success in business. Featured speakers include Audra Fordin, founder of Women Auto Know and advocate for women in the auto industry; Cassidy Canzani, senior economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics; and more. “I’m excited and honored to be included with this group of powerful women,” said Audra Fordin. “Starting a business in a male-dominated industry was a pretty scary thing to do, but I’m glad I did it. Anything is possible with passion and persistence. I want to share this message with every woman.” Attendees are encouraged to review, revise, and print their resumes in preparation for the job fair. Employment opportunities will be offered by a large number of companies, government agencies, and educational organizations. To RSVP, send an email to centerwny@yahoo.com or call (718) 793-0672. End
