Oncology Research Professional Switches Gears, Takes A Chance At Retail & Romance

HOUSTON - Oct. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- After earning two degrees, and working her way up from an entry level to a Master's level position at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, small business owner and soon-to-be e-published romance writer, D. Alyce Domain of Houston, did the hardest thing she'd ever done, she changed her life.  She started her own ladies' boutique, The Aesthetic Domain, in January of 2012 and began writing paranormal gothic romance, two passions she'd secretly nursed since her college years.

The impetus for The Aesthetic Domain Boutique & Blog came from a life-long love of jewelry, fashion, and accessories and creative writing.  The Aesthetic Domain began as a home-based jewelry business that traveled the festival and bazaar circuit.  The boutique has since moved to a brick and mortar location, branched out to include chic affordable fashions, a broad range of accessories, and the newly-launched, interactive blog website.  With the moderate success of her boutique and blog Ms. Domain set her sights on her other secret passion, romantic fiction.

Ms. Domain started out writing fan-fiction.  Further inspired by the success of so many popular female writers of romantic fiction, young adult fiction and network television, she began to experiment with her own characters.  She soon wrote her first complete and publish-ready novel, "Dominic's Nemesis", a haunting paranormal romance with gothic and historical influence.  A non-traditional person by nature, Ms. Domain decided to forego the traditional publishing process, in favor of a self-published e-book format.  Ms. Domain said to herself, "I don't want to spend years trying to get noticed by a traditional publishing company, only to lose creative control of my books, work under stressful deadlines, and earn low-percentage royalties."
