ATLANTA - Oct. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- On Friday, October 2, Paran Homes, Smith Douglas Homes, Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the NFL Former Players Association Metro Atlanta Chapter partnered for a HomeAid Care Day. Students from Kennesaw State University’s National Association of Home Builders’ Student Chapter lent their support as well. These groups worked together at Solomon’s Temple, which provides temporary housing to single women and single mothers and their children in southwest Atlanta.  Tasks included major playground improvements, building new picnic tables, installation of new doors, blinds, and door stops, cleaning, landscaping work, and other minor repairs and upgrades throughout the facility.

Patricia Smith, Solomon's Temple Executive Director, stated, “Solomon's Temple is so thankful to HomeAid for the much needed improvements to our facility.  Homelessness is a horrible experience, and at Solomon's Temple we provide a clean, safe habitation for women and children while they work toward securing permanent housing.  HomeAid is immensely important to the non-profit community, and it takes perseverance and tenacity to leverage professional tradesman and handy-people to donate their sweat equity and show responsibility for the community.”

Justin Swanson, who led the Smith Douglas team at Solomon’s Temple said, “I was fortunate enough to be part of the Home Aid Care Day at Solomon’s Temple.  God has blessed me with good fortune in my life and I’m glad to have had the opportunity to give back.  I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day!”

HomeAid Atlanta, founded in 2001, is a nonprofit organization that builds new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach.  HomeAid works in partnership with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, as well as community building industry organizations, to assist the temporarily homeless.  To date, HomeAid Atlanta has completed 53 housing, remodel and care day projects at locations that serve victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, abused and abandoned children, and more.  Learn more at www.homeaidatlanta.org.
