Creating pipeline isometries in PTC Creo Piping

Non-scale pipeline isometries

‘M4 ISO Isometrics for PTC Creo® Piping’ uses pipeline data from Creo to automatically create non-scale pipeline isometries, including the corresponding dimensioning data, notes and parts lists. “The non-scale approach is of decisive importance”, says Mark Simpson, Product Line Manager at CAD Schroer, “because it enables us to depict pipeline strands of all sizes, lengths and complexities on a single sheet. This cannot be done in a normal drawing or 3D model.”

“The advantage of our solution is that the Creo Piping user can, at the touch of a button, immediately obtain complete and detailed pipeline isometries associated with either all the pipelines, or just the selected ones”, explains Mark Simpson. “Although one does not see a lot of M4 ISO, it delivers absolutely convincing results. All the pipeline isometries and all the parts lists are made available in the blink of an eye, and they can then be passed on to the production domain.”

Range of functions of the isometry software

The functional range of M4 ISO allows the user to use the software in either a completely automated or manual mode. Thanks to the open format, the software is highly flexible, which in turn ensures that it can quickly be adapted to company-specific or project-specific requirements. The styles of the pipeline isometries can be adjusted, along with the individual drawing templates. Furthermore, the fully-integrated software draws up a complete list containing the layouts that are needed for producing the respective pipeline strands. This is complemented by a list of the pipeline strands that can be pre-fabricated before transportation.
