The Venice Golf and Country Club to Celebrate Golf Course Grand Re-Opening

SARASOTA, Fla. - Oct. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- The Venice Golf and Country Club – one of Southwest Florida’s most prestigious private golf communities – announces the Community Showcase Golf Event to celebrate the grand re-opening of its newly renovated, award-winning golf course on Sunday, October 25, 2015. More than 100 guests are expected to attend the invite-only event at 250 Venice Golf Club Drive in Venice, including city officials, local business leaders, area Chamber members and special guests.

“We are thrilled to unveil the spectacular cosmetic and functional golf course improvements we’ve made to keep our course among the very best in the nation,” said General Manager James Schell. “The result of all our work is a stunning yet challenging course that our members are proud to call their own. This project also sets the tone for our 25^th year anniversary as a Club in 2016.”

The Community Showcase Golf event will begin with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start to the fun golf scramble. Players will face a very challenging golf course with longest drive and closest-to-the-pin skill events to win prizes. Club tours will be available throughout the day for non-golfers. The event will culminate with a relaxing poolside cocktail party. A wonderful selection of hors d’ oeuvres, beer and wine will be served to the tunes of a live steel drum band.

This summer concluded an extensive, $2.5 million golf course and community improvement project involving a number of significant enhancements. These include a state-of-the-art irrigation system to reduce water consumption by approximately 30 to 40 percent annually; new grass on all fairways, tees and greens, with highly touted Celebration Bermuda grass on the fairways and tees and the highly successful Bermuda Tif Eagle grass on greens; and new practice areas with two putting greens, an expanded driving range and a new short-game practice area.

All golf course bunkers were redesigned and rebuilt in 2013.
