ACTE announce Cat 1 4G module – delivering next generation connectivity at M2M optimised speeds

ACTE, the U.K specialist of wireless communications solutions for M2M and Internet of Things (IoT) have announced the release of the Cinterion ELS31 LTE-Category 1 industrial wireless module from Gemalto.

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Oct. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- The first of its kind, the Cinterion ELS31 LTE Cat 1 wireless module is set to revolutionise highly efficient 4G LTE connectivity for Machine to Machine (M2M) and industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The device features power optimised performance and M2M optimized speeds of 10Mbit/s downlink and 5Mbit/s uplink.

It delivers overall cost efficiencies for the vast number of IoT applications that are not dependent on high speed connectivity but still require the longevity and reliability of LTE networks as 2G and 3G phase-outs occur in years ahead. It is therefore ideal for a wide variety of long field life applications including metering, tracking, fleet management and mHealth.

Gemalto LTE Cat 1 modules deliver a long lifespan, significant bandwidth and power efficiencies, including a feature set specific to the needs of industrial IoT solutions such as extended operating temperatures from -40C to 85C.

Sharing the same footprint as existing Cinterion industrial portfolio products, the ELS31 enables easy migration from Gemalto 2G and 3G wireless modules to 4G LTE-Cat 1. All Cinterion M2M modules come with full type approval and local network certifications to ensure easy integration and a fast time to market.

ELS31 comes in Gemalto’s unique LGA (Land Grid Array) package measuring 27.6 x 18.8 x 2.1mm, therefore suited to the manufacturing requirements of small, high-volume M2M devices with a focus on reliable and efficient processes. ELS31 is designed for best in class power consumption and includes support for common industrial interfaces such as USB and UART. ELS31 is a single mode module specifically designed for LTE networks.

Networks standards are expected to continue to evolve encompassing increasing efficient LTE categories (e.g CAT.0/Cat.M). Future Cinterion modules will support easy forward/backward migration and compatibility by sharing the same form factor.

David Taylor, PR Manager of ACTE comments “ELS31 offers a full feature set module covering all the essential M2M parameters for a successful Verizon 4G deployment in one, small form factor.”

ELS31 is sampling now from ACTE U.K and are available to U.K based Systems Integrator customers. Please contact ACTE U.K on +44 1256 845888 or email dt@acte-uk.com for more details or to request a sample.

Cinterion® modules from Gemalto ensure worldwide cellular footprint, reliable connections, and high speed data transfer. Solutions have been engineered to meet the demanding requirements of industrial applications for over 15 years as well as offering flexible integration capabilities.
