New “How to” Guide Solves Riddle of Launching Successful Pop-Ups

PopUp Republic: How to Start Your Own Successful Pop-Up Space, Shop, or Restaurant to be available from booksellers starting October 25th

CHICAGO - Oct. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Recently, the co-CEO of Whole Foods pointed to a “tectonic shift” taking place in the food industry.  In point of fact, it is the whole retail sector that has been experiencing a watershed — and we aren’t referring only to the explosion of online retail.  Hand-in-hand with the massive encroachment of cyber-based commerce has been the rapid growth of categories that fall under the umbrella of “pop-ups” — farmers markets, food trucks, supper clubs, seasonal marketplaces, et al — commercial events that are only open for short, temporary periods of time.

PopUp Republic, an end-to-end service provider to the exciting pop-up industry that was founded four years ago, released a study last year that revealed pop-ups are already a $50 billion market in the U.S.  The company’s founder and CEO, Jeremy Baras, has been commissioned by the venerable academic publisher John Wiley & Sons (known for its For Dummies series) to write a “definitive” book on the pop-up phenomenon, and on October 25th the finished product, PopUp Republic:  How to Start Your Own Successful Pop-Up Space, Shop, or Restaurant will be available at leading online booksellers, to be followed on November 2nd at bookstores around the country.

“Over the past four years, we have had over 30,000 pop-ups posted on the pop-up directory of our website, www.popuprepublic.com.  We have interacted with and supported thousands of pop-up merchants and pop-up commercial space owners.  The needs of this industry are unique, especially because of their temporary nature.  This book aims to answer the questions we have fielded continuously over the past few years from pop-up hosts and landlords,” Baras said.

PopUp Republic:  How to Start Your Own Successful Pop-Up Space, Shop, or Restaurant looks to resolve some of the challenges faced by prospective pop-up entrepreneurs.  How do I get people to attend my pop-up?  How can my pop-up gain maximum exposure?  What licenses, permits and insurances are required?  How do I find the best location for my pop-up?  I have a great space - how do I find pop-up tenants?  Where can I find staffing for my pop-up?  Those are some of the questions that Baras addresses in his pop-up guide.

PopUp Republic:  How to Start Your Own Successful Pop-Up Space, Shop, or Restaurant will be published in advance of the holiday shopping period, a season that has proven to be popular for pop-up shops and restaurants.  The book can be pre-ordered via http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-1119145910,descCd-buy.html.  Jeremy Baras can be reached at jbaras@popuprepublic.com.
