BOKSBURG, South Africa - Oct. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Bakwena N1N4 Platinum Highway has announced the upcoming closure of the extra wide lanes west and eastbound at the Doornpoort Plaza between 5 October and 18 December 2015. Further, the extra wide northbound lane at Pumulani Plaza will also be closed between 5th October and 26 October 2015. This is due to the concrete slab repair work of lanes.

Liam Clarke, commercial manager at Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire, says that during this phase of the project, drivers, as well as owners of vehicles which exceed 2,6m in width or are classified as abnormal will be advised of alternative routes to the Doornpoort Plaza.

“Abnormal vehicles going through Pumulani Plaza will be diverted through Dr Sefako Mogatho Drive in Lavender, on the R101 Wallmansthal to the north. We assure our road users that we will cause as little disruption as possible during this period to ensure that they continue to have a safe and pleasant driving experience on our roads.”

These rehabilitations at the plazas are part of Bakwena’s ongoing commitment to honour their mandate with the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL), to design, build, finance, maintain as well as operate the Bakwena Platinum Freeway to world class standards.

Over the past 12 months, Bakwena has already undertaken maintenance work on their roads, with a combined investment of R855 million. The most recent completed project included the construction of the additional dual carriageway on the N4 between the Brits West Interchange (R512) as well as the Buffelspoort Interchange.

“We’d like to thank all our road users for their patience during this period as we strive to better your travel experience on the Bakwena N1N4 routes.  In addition to road upgrades and maintenance, Bakwena also works in partnership with all the relevant stakeholders as well as runs road safety campaigns throughout the year in an effort to and achieve the zero fatalities goal on the N1N4 corridor,” concludes Clarke.
