PALM COAST, Fla. - Oct. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Christopher Marlow, co-owner of Golden Lion Café, is pleased to announce that through sales of the Golden Lion’s Key Lime Tartar Sauce, they have donated $1,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank, which will buy 7,000 lbs of food for those in need.

This was the second check that the company has donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank, a nonprofit that collects and distributes donated food to more than 550 nonprofit partner agencies. Chris presented the check this month at Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando.

Co-owner of the Golden Lion Cafe, and Stetson graduate, Christopher Marlow was in the news this past June when their signature product, the Golden Lion Cafe's Key Lime Tartar Sauce, expanded to being available in 400 Publix Supermarkets throughout Florida. "September was Hunger Auction Month," said Christopher Marlow, "And we wanted to continue our mission to donate fifty percent of the profits from the sale of our Key Lime Tartar Sauce to hungry families in Florida," he added.

Due to their relationship with food retailers, Second Harvest Food Bank will be able to purchase 7,000 lbs of food with the $1,000 donation. Second Harvest Food Bank is a private, nonprofit organization that collects and distributes donated food to more than 550 nonprofit partner agencies in six Central Florida counties.

Second Harvest Food Bank is located at 311 Mercy Dr, Orlando. Chris can be reached at 386-864-3218.

Golden Lion’s Key Lime Tartar Sauce has expanded distribution and is now available in 383 Publix Supermarket’s. The sauce can be found in Publix Supermarket’s from Tampa to Jacksonville, Florida, all the way to Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Southern Georgia.

As well as Second Harvest Food Bank and other organizations that help feed the needy, the company also makes monetary donations to HUM (Halifax Urban Ministries) in Volusia County, who work with children and families that benefit from the sales.  They have also partnered with Bette Rountree, the Executive Director of the Flagler County Resource Center, and President of Church Women United in Bunnell, the second busiest food pantry in Flagler County.

The giving doesn’t stop there. For every 10 ‘likes’ on the company’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/keylimetartarsauce), they donate one dollar to feed the hungry. Second Harvest Food Bank can turn that one dollar into four meals for those in need.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects and distributes donated food to more than 550 nonprofit partner agencies in six Central Florida Counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia.

The Golden Lion Café is located at 501 North Oceanshore Blvd, in Flagler Beach, FL and can be reached at 386-439-3004. The Key Lime Tartar Sauce can be purchased online as well as Publix Supermarkets at http://www.goldenlioncafe.us.

About Golden Lion/Key Lime Tartar Sauce:

For the past 23 years, The Golden Lion Café has operated as a successful destination restaurant in Flagler Beach. Located across the street from Atlantic Ocean, this local hot spot on a small barrier Island of less than 4,500 residents is highly awarded on a local, state and national level. In 2013, the United States S.B.A. named the Marlow family the Southeast of the USA “Family Owned Business of the year”. They were also recently awarded the ‘#1 Beach Bar on the East Coast of Florida’ by floridabeachbar.com

An offshoot business of the restaurant was their secret recipe of Key Lime Tartar Sauce. Due to the demands of restaurant guests who kept asking for the sauce to take home, the family began bottling it locally in St. Augustine, Florida in 2014. The sauce is a combination of citrus flavor and just a little bit of heat, which makes it a delicious addition to just about everything.

In April of 2014, Christopher Marlow did what no other local business had done according to Flagler Beach Publix Manager Chuck Jones. “This is breaking ground. This is the first time I have seen a local business on Publix shelves in my 45 years with Publix,” said Jones. As a service to local customers, the sauce was made available through Publix initially in the five Flagler County Stores only. Then something happened that no one expected, it began to fly off the shelves.

By Christmas 2014, the Marlow family made the decision that would change the shape of the business. They recognized a tremendous need in Flagler County to feed the hungry and made the decision that half of any profits earned would be given back to local food pantries and added the tagline: “Every Bottle Makes a Difference” to their labels and TV commercial.
