BELLEVUE, Wash. - Oct. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- YSK Events, host of the 2015 Men’s World Squash Championship, has partnered with impactChoice to make the event Green and Energy Neutral by minimizing environmental impacts and offsetting CO2 emissions relating to energy consumption for event execution.

“Sustainability and respect for our environment are core values upon which we have built our business,” says Shabana Khan, CEO of YSK Events. “Being in the fortunate position to host an event of this magnitude provides us with an ideal opportunity to highlight our commitment and promote environmental sustainability throughout the sport.”

“impactChoice provides the essential guidance we need to be successful and promotes sustainable business practices amongst our stakeholders,” she continued.

Initiatives to reduce environmental impacts include:

• Using venues recognized for Green accomplishments relating to energy efficiency, reduced water usage, recycling and waste reduction.

• Providing accommodation at establishments within walking distance of the event that have active environmental sustainability initiatives in place.

• Using energy efficient Squash Courts and equipment for the event execution.

• Utilizing electronic media and elimination of paper where possible.

In addition to implementing the best practices above, impactChoice will also mitigate emissions related to energy consumption at the event by purchasing VCS & CCBS certified carbon credits sourced from the Kariba REDD+ Forestry Project in Zimbabwe. Participants and ticket holders will also receive personalized micro-emissions mitigation certificates based on calculated emissions related to the time they spent at the event.

According to Allan Saunders, CEO, impactChoice, USA, “Squash might not be big in the USA, but it has a huge following worldwide. YSK Events’ active role in promoting environmental sustainability and emissions reductions for this event allows our message to reach a huge audience and also elevates them to a leadership position regarding sustainability amongst their peers.”
