National education nonprofit hosts renowned scholar and author of Mindset

SAN FRANCISCO - Oct. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA: Breakthrough Collaborative, a national education nonprofit with an innovative approach to addressing the achievement gap, is pleased to announce our annual autumn benefit, Breaking Bread for Breakthrough. Our luncheon will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in San Francisco. This year, Breakthrough welcomes celebrated author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, Carol Dweck, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Dweck, the Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology at Stanford University, is one of the world’s leading researchers of motivation. Her work around growth mindset has been influential in shaping how Breakthrough teaches students and train teachers. Liam Mayclem, the Emmy Award-winning host and producer of CBS5's Eye on the Bay (and KCBS radio's Foodie Chap), will serve as the emcee for the afternoon. More information about the event can be found here.

Breaking Bread for Breakthrough is receiving generous support from corporate sponsors including Dodge and Cox as well donations from a 34-member host committee. A full list of donors can be on the event page of Breakthrough's website. (https://www.breakthroughcollaborative.org/events) Joshua Lachs, national executive director of Breakthrough Collaborative, had this to say about the event: “We’re thrilled to have Dr. Carol Dweck join us for this year’s fundraiser. As a learning organization that educates students and trains teachers, we draw on Dr. Dweck’s research on mindset when we develop lessons and plan trainings. We view growth mindset as essential to lifelong learning and success.”
