Follow on Google News | Filmmaker Paula Killebrew Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for Assassin Film "The Most Unlikely"Independent filmmakers Paula Killebrew and Nicole J. Butler turn to alternative funding sources for their latest project, The Most Unlikely, a short film that seeks to redefine the types of roles in which women of color are typically cast.
By: The Most Unlikely Film “One day on the way to an audition I wondered why I couldn't be seen as more than the lady next door, the meter maid, etc.? I'm so much more, but the powers that be have decided that I'm not!" While great strides have been made in creating multidimensional, diverse characters of color, such as Kerry Washington’s Olivia Pope or Viola Davis’ Annalise Keating, the average African American actress is relegated to subservient roles. Couple that with the lack of opportunity for older actresses and you can easily see why Killebrew and her castmates are so passionate about this project. The Most Unlikely chronicles the story of Connie, a retired assassin who, at the request of the President of the United States, comes out of retirement to perform one last assignment. She reluctantly pulls together a quartet of highly-skilled assassins to complete the mission. And, like any good dramedy, calamity ensues. The quartet is completed by Nicole J.
