WINDSOR, Conn. - Oct. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Many Rivers Community Acupuncture is offering unlimited $10 acupuncture treatments for First Responders during the month of November.  Firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians and other First Responders (active or retired) are welcome to take advantage of this special.

“With Thanksgiving approaching, we reflected about what we are thankful for at Many Rivers, and we immediately thought about First Responders. They respond to every distress call, often putting their own lives on the line.  We are grateful for their life-saving work in our community,” said Many Rivers acupuncturist Heather Finn, L.Ac .

The Many Rivers community clinic often feels like a family living room after Thanksgiving dinner – each person picks a comfortable chair, grabs a blanket, and settles in for a nice nap.  The clinic is warm, peaceful and cozy.  And the relaxation in the room is readily apparent with the quiet sounds of soft breathing.

This sense of relaxation and well-being is very important for First Responders who spend much of their time in traumatic situations.  Acupuncture calms the parasympathetic nervous system, restoring the body’s equilibrium after the fight or flight response is activated.

In fact, after the trauma of September 11, 2001 in New York City, the closest hospital to Ground Zero provided acupuncture to emergency response workers.  Their treatments helped the workers recover from insomnia and soothe post-traumatic stress.

Acupuncture can also help First Responders overcome chronic pain by reducing inflammation, promoting circulation, and by changing the way the brain perceives pain.  Back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, and all other types of chronic pain due to overuse or injury can be treated with acupuncture.

Many Rivers is part of the community acupuncture movement, which is working to make health care affordable and accessible.  Acupuncture treatments are provided on a sliding scale, from $15 - $35 per treatment (plus a one-time new patient paperwork fee of $10).  Many Rivers is open Monday through Saturday, with evening appointments available until 7:00 pm Monday through Thursday.

Many Rivers is located at 775 Bloomfield Avenue in Windsor, CT.  Appointments can be easily booked online at http://www.manyriversacupuncture.com, or by calling (860) 683-0011.
