Bruce Carlile of Inspectorate to Speak During 2015 ASTM Crude Oil Quality and Sampling Course

HOUSTON - Oct. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Inspectorate, part of Bureau Veritas’ commodities division and leaders in testing and inspection for the oil and gas industry, announced Bruce Carlile, senior business development representative for Crude Oil and Shale Operations, will participate as a guest speaker during the ASTM Crude Oil Quality and Sampling Course taking place Oct. 19-21, 2015 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown New Orleans, LA. The course is taking place in conjunction with the Crude Oil Quality Association 2015 Fall Meeting.

Led by Harry Giles, former executive director of the Crude Oil Quality Association, the three-day crude quality course will discuss how proper sampling, analysis, and reporting of data according to established standards is of paramount importance, especially with the volatility in price, and the market proliferation of synthetic, high TAN, and extra heavy crude oils.  Analytical data must be accurate and reliable as they are the basis for decisions on whether a given crude oil can be effectively processed and yield the desired product slate.

Carlile’s one-hour presentation will be held the morning of Oct. 21 and is titled “An Introduction to Crude Assay.” Course attendees, including laboratory technicians and chemists, will learn about crude oil (http://www.bureauveritas.com/services%20sheet/commodities...) characterization, such as assays (http://www.bureauveritas.com/services%20sheet/commodities...) types and their applications. A display of West Texas Intermediate and Bakken Shale samples will be shown to illustrate the petroleum product cuts or volume make used in sample analysis processes.
