DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Oct. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- The Arc Volusia is pleased to announce that CEO David James has been awarded the Robert Ettinger Award for Executive Excellence.

“I was completely surprised and caught off guard when they called my name,” said David James, CEO, The Arc Volusia. “This recognition is quite an honor and I am humbled and extremely grateful, it’s truly a passion of mine to serve our clients and their families,” he added.

The award was presented Wednesday at The Arc of Florida’s 62nd Anniversary Convention that was held at the Embassy Suites Tampa – USF October 14-16. This year’s convention theme was, “There is a Superhero Inside All of Us – You Just Need the Courage to Put on the Cape!”

The Robert Ettinger Award for Executive Excellence recognizes an Arc local chapter Executive Director who has demonstrated outstanding quality performance in the areas of advocacy, management and administration, innovation, staff, parent, and consumer relations, community involvement, and program success.

David James became the CEO at Arc Volusia three years ago.  There were difficult changes to be made, and a top to bottom review of business practices was necessary.  He has been able to navigate difficult decisions by always first considering what would be best for the individuals served.

While reinventing the local chapter, David has become a valued member of The Arc of Florida family.  He has willingly contacted legislators when asked, he has written op-eds on issue of importance and volunteered to serve on statewide committees.

More importantly is his work with families served by Arc Volusi,a as well as families in Orange and Flagler Counties who have reached out to him when they needed services or had lost funding for their local programs. David stepped up to the plate to guide these families and assist them in navigating their next steps to try to receive services.

The catalyst awards we are presenting today were actually ordered from Arc Volusia where David has proudly displayed and promoted The Arc brand.

The Arc's community impact focuses in four areas- education, employment, health and basic needs. The Arc Volusia is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 4:00pm. They are located at 100 Jimmy Huger Circle in Daytona and have a DeLand campus located at 1738 Patterson Avenue. They can be reached via phone at 386-274-4736, or online at www.arcvolusia.org, or https://www.facebook.com/TheArcVolusia.
