About the Author: Born in Ethiopia, poet-playwright Fikre Tolossa, Ph.D., is currently a professor of philosophy at the University of Lincoln, Oakland, California. He studied literature and creative writing at the famed Gorky Institute for Literature in Moscow, Russia, where he earned an MA degree in creative writing for which he got the mark “excellent.” The author received a Ph.D. in comparative literature (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Bremen, Germany, and has taught creative writing and liberal arts at universities in Germany and the U.S. for the past 35 years. He has composed over 50 plays, stories, screenplays, and articles.His play, “The Coffin-dealer and The Gravedigger,” which is a classic in Ethiopia, was staged in the Bay Area of San Francisco 15 years ago with great resonance. His feature film “Multicolored Flowers”was part of a San Francisco film festival in 2009, and was presented in the USA, Australia, Africa, and Europe. Professor Tolossa has been featured in anthologies with Nobel Laureates such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, and Javier Perez de Cuellar, the former secretary general of the United Nations.
