Follow on Google News | Hull Sports Club Aims High with Miller Homes Competition WinBy: Miller Homes Miller Homes’ ‘Summer of Sport’ competition invites clubs from across the region to say why they deserve to win the prize and this year ‘Hull High Fliers’ were chosen guest judge Leigh Bromby, coach of Huddersfield Town and retired Sheffield Wednesday footballer. “We were so pleased to hear that we had been chosen as this year’s winners and will definitely put the money to good use,” said Julie Williams Head Coach Hull High Fliers. “We are currently in temporary facilities after we were asked to move our previous home at the Airco Arena after it was reclaimed by the management company so they could utilise it for other purposes. This prize will help us to relocate to a new venue that will meet the needs of all our club members, including our elite squad and our pre-school clubs, which have had to be temporarily suspended due to lack of a permanent facility.” The club, which was established in 1981 is currently fundraising £100,000 to assist with its relocation. In addition, to the after school and weekend clubs that have over 150 members, coaches also work with local schools, pre schoolers and adults to take trampolining skills to the wider community and is also fully inclusive allowing disabled children to also enjoy this fun activity. “Hull High Fliers were very worthy winners – it would be such a shame if all these talented children were unable to carry on their hobby and competitions if the money isn’t raised,” said Leigh Bromby Summer of Sport Competition Judge. “It is this type of club that is at the very heart of the local community creating a team spirit and camaraderie that is so important. I wish them the best of luck for the future.” The club needs to reach its target of £100,000 as a matter of urgency and is calling on the support of local businesses for help. Steve McElroy sales director Miller Homes Yorkshire concluded, “Warmest congratulations go to Julie and the Hull High Fliers and we wish them every success both now and in the future. Sports clubs are an important part of communities as are our developments, and by working together we can ensure the future of these communities giving people worthy places they can call home.” Miller Homes currently has 9 developments located across the region and has properties ranging from two bedroom apartments to five bedroom luxury homes.
